RESUME

about me

Hello! I am Clara Ip Wai Nam, year three student majoring International Journalism (Broadcast) at Hong Kong Baptist University. Since young, I am always proud that I am born as a Hongkong-er, not only because of the heavenly delicacies and the fantastic nightlife, but also the fact that we could enjoy freedom of speech and the mix of different cultures in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is one of the governments that accept criticism and comments from citizens and journalists in Asian countries, as most politicians will try to utilise language art to escape being judged and criticised.  As the adage goes "two heads are better than one", I believe that the effectiveness of the policies can be boosted through taking suggestions provided by thousands of citizens, even it may cause a lot of voices and protests.

People nowadays, especially teenagers, are getting infobesity due to their inseparableness from the internet. It could be alarming when they misinterpret or over-rely on the information they “Googled”. One of most famous YouTubers, Logan Paul, once published a video of a person who committed suicide in the Japan famous suicide forest, the Aokigahara. It had reflected that it is easy to cross the line in the seemingly uncontrolled internet environment and send out misleading messages. As more and more social matters are happening both locally and globally, I realised that I want to be someone who can show the full picture to the public precisely and neutrally. The role of a professional journalist under the digital age is getting more challenging, however, the commitment of a journalist has always been the same to me.
