SHOWTIME FOR OUR AACPR YEAR TWO STUDENTS!

Writer's picture: Clara Ip Clara Ip

In the past few months, our year two students had been working their fingers to the bones in exchange for a satisfying result in their final year projects. Searching for a host, composing a proposal and holding various of activities are definitely not an easy job, it a combination of luck and effort. Looking at their work, I am really proud that I have such talented colleagues who could boost their hosts’ sales volume in a short period of time. Last Thursday, 19thApril 2018, was a day that all students in Associate of Arts in Communication and Public Relations (AACPR) had been looking forward to because it’s the day for our year two students to reveal their results and effort they paid in the past few months. With the help from our programme teachers and year one student helpers, happiness is filled in every corner of the purple zone in the main campus of the City University, both our students and guests are able to enjoy the exhibition.

This year we are very honoured to have Mr. Mike K.F., Professor of practice in the school of Journalism and Communication in Chinese University of Hong Kong, Mr. Michael Chan, Assistant Professor in the school of Journalism and Communication in Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Mr. Dominic Yeo, Assistant Professor and director of the organizational communication undergraduate programme at the Department of Communication Studies in Hong Kong Baptist University, to join us in our opening and closing ceremony. All their speeches are every memorable, but the speech from Mr. Mike K.F. hit me when he quoted the sentence of “rose is a rose is a rose” which is written by Gertrude Stein in the poem “Sacred Emily”, I am fascinated with the interpretation of different “rose” referred in the sentence.

Apart from the final year projects, another highlight in the Final Year Project Exhibition is that we could achieve the highest voting records. Due to the changes we made from tradition paper voting to mobile voting, we are able to boost the voting number dramatically from around 40 votes to 323 votes. To add on, we have more people to join us this year, creating a “new problem” of human traffic. I hope that in the coming year Final Year Project Exhibition, we could not only break this year’s record but also get a bigger exhibition area in the main campus in the City University allowing more people to familiar with our programme!
